SUMMARY:Ásgeir
DESCRIPTION:As one of Iceland’s most successful exports\, singer-songwriter Ásgeir has always pushed the boundaries of his thoughtful brand of folk-pop. His debut album\, ‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn’\, became the best-selling debut in Icelandic history\, leading to the English-language version ‘In The Silence’ in 2014. He continued to refine his sound with ‘Afterglow’ in 2017\, ‘Bury The Moon’ in 2020\, and ‘Time On My Hands’ in 2022’\, earning praise from press and radio worldwide\, including the likes of The Independent\, MOJO\, NME\, The Line Of Best Fit\, Clash Magazine\, BBC 6 Music and Radio X. \nIn recent years\, Ásgeir has embraced solo performances\, playing nearly 70 intimate shows across Europe\, the Nordics\, and Iceland\, including a UK tour with Icelandic singer GDRN. He also performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and recorded a live session for Arte TV in Berlin. His passion for live music has taken him to unique venues\, including small churches\, deepening his connection with audiences. He wrote a song for a Kafkaesque play that was hosted at The Reykjavik City Theatre called Sýslumaður Dauðans. \nCurrently\, Ásgeir is preparing for his next album\, focusing on songwriting with a fresh approach; prioritizing melody and personal storytelling\, exploring themes of relationships\, aging\, hope\, and nostalgia. His influences range from Leonard Cohen and Daniel Lanois to contemporary artists like Adrianne Lenker and Dina Ögon. \nThe album’s production was a hands-on process\, with Ásgeir playing most of the instruments and collaborating with a select group of musicians\, including Nashville cellist Nat Smith. Recorded both solo and with a band\, the songs capture an organic\, heartfelt energy. With this new chapter\, Ásgeir continues to evolve\, offering music that is as introspective and accomplished as ever as well as deeply resonant.

SUMMARY:Fruit Bats
DESCRIPTION:The midwest\, particularly the part of the midwest Eric D. Johnson hails from\, is a largely flat expanse. Zipping through it on the highway\, you’ll see cities and towns rise up in the distance\, but blink and you’ll miss other man-made rejoinders to horizontal living dotting the landscape\, hill after hill\, built from the refuse of the past: landfills. Some of these hills make for great sledding spots\, parks\, and trails. Others turn organic waste into compost. The Landfill\, Fruit Bats’ June 12\, 2026 album from Merge Records\, is something else entirely: a mountain dominating the landscape of Johnson’s heart. \nThis being a Fruit Bats record\, one scales that mountain to take in the view\, to see the future spread out as wide and endless as the midwestern plains. “But the mountain that gives us this vantage point\,” Johnson says\, “is made out of the trash that we’ve created\, the collective weight of the past and where it’s taken us.” When he details that view on title track and lead single “The Landfill” — “a holy vision / of what could be / and couldn’t be / and could have been” — it’s thrilling to hear him sent soaring by a full complement of instruments. But what’s truly stunning is how\, in his recontouring from could to couldn’t to could have been\, he has lost none of the vulnerability that was brought to the foreground of his songwriting by 2025’s solo outing\, Baby Man. \nOver the course of his now 25-year career under the moniker\, most of Eric D. Johnson’s output as Fruit Bats has been the product of patience and fine-tuning. His songs\, to borrow a phrase\, are slow growers\, given life on albums that encompass long stretches of time and memory. Baby Man changed that — he disallowed himself from referring to material he’d been working on before laying the album down\, utilizing the morning pages technique of stream-of-consciousness\, observational songwriting which flowed directly into his afternoon recording sessions. It was both a breathtaking document of Johnson’s skill as a singer-songwriter and an unvarnished account of the two weeks in which he recorded the album. \nBaby Man’s closeness to Johnson’s heart and the close attention to his voice and instrument its minimalist-maximalist ethos required uncorked something in him as he wrote towards a new full band effort. “That session was over\,” he explains\, “but there was way more to explore. I liked the immediacy of it\, and I wanted to see how that would translate into a full-band Fruit Bats record.” Within weeks\, he was back in a studio\, this time with his band — David Dawda (bass)\, Josh Mease (guitars\, synth)\, Frank LoCrasto (piano\, synth)\, and Kosta Galanopoulos (drums) — with whom Johnson has spent over a decade building Fruit Bats into one of the most in-demand live acts in indie rock. Listening to The Landfill\, it’s not hard to understand why: simply put\, this band smokes. \nProducing the initial recording sessions in Washington’s Bear Creek Studios\, Johnson set out to capture “the sound of this band I constantly marvel at\, the feeling of being in a room with musicians you love and trust enough to let them cook.” They laid most of it down on the floor — no click tracks\, no comped vocals\, and minimal overdubs\, with frequent collaborator Thom Monahan returning to provide additional production and The Landfill’s final mix. “It’s how we do things with my other band\, Bonny Light Horseman\, and I was curious to see how it would work with Fruit Bats\,” Johnson notes. “It’s both a very personal record\, and my most collaborative to date.” \nIt’s also the most live a Fruit Bats record has been since 2009’s The Ruminant Band\, and in paring back the number of tracks that typically layer a full-band song\, the psychedelic\, technicolor dreaminess of their sound is more vivid than ever. Time and space melt into the sublime as the band gels around Johnson’s hazy croon on “That Goddamn Sun\,” stretching out to accommodate him as he trips from California to North Carolina. In striking a balance between ecstatic romance and melancholia\, “Think Aboutcha” occupies the blissful-but-doomed intersection of the E Street Band and Paul McCartney\, playful but playing for stakes that are larger than life\, while “Perhaps We’re a Storm” charges headlong into the unknown. \nAll of these songs — most of the songs on The Landfill\, in fact — mark themselves immediately as some of the best in Eric D. Johnson’s ever-expanding songbook\, seekers and anthems alike. It’s the most daunting peak he’s scaled yet\, musically or lyrically: a swashbuckling set of full-band jammers couldn’t be more honest and open-hearted about his hopes and anxieties\, his dreams and failures\, what’s passed and what will come to pass\, were it just him\, his guitar\, and the listener.

SUMMARY:Flamingosis
DESCRIPTION:Flamingosis makes the soundtrack to being your best self. Under the spell of Aaron Velasquez\, the New Jersey-raised and Brooklyn-based artist and producer\, handcrafted electronic beats meet live instrumentation spiked with funk in the center of the dancefloor (right underneath the disco ball). The ensuing overflow of energy might just inspire you to get up and move\, fall in love\, or even change your life. Extending a creative arc without comparison\, he strikes a deep emotional chord on his 2024 full-length album\, Better Will Come. \n“Everyone wants to get better in some way\,” he states. “The album highlights my own personal experience of growing\, and you can potentially relate your story to what I went through. I learned a lot of hard lessons\, but I made a conscious effort to grow in every way—not just musically\, but physically\, mentally\, and spiritually. I did a lot of inner work\, and I channeled these experiences into the music. If you pursue self-improvement\, life improves around you too.” \nArtistically\, he has continued to progress at an impressive pace. Piling up over 100 million streams and counting\, he has dropped one fan favorite project after another\, including _Pleasure Palette _[2015]\, _Kahunastyle _[2016]\, Bright Moments [2016]\, Daymaker [2021] and collaborative album Bliss Station [2023]. Of the latter\, ThisSongIsSick raved\, “This is the perfect album to rinse outside by the pool\, at the park\, in your backyard\, or wherever you have a space to move around\,” and EARMILK christened it “an electronic journey through time and space._” _Along the way\, he teamed up with everyone from Big Gigantic\, GRiZ and Tokimonsta to Matoma for collaborations. Simultaneously\, he notably shined at festivals\, including Austin City Limits\, Electric Forest\, Okeechobee\, Holy Ship!\, Voodoo Music + Arts\, and more. \nA season of transformation and awakening underlined the genesis of Better Will Come. \n“Around the time of the Daymaker tour\, behind-the-scenes life hit me in an unexpected way I didn’t think was possible\,” he recalls. “In turn\, I took a downward spiral as a direct result of my poor choices and failure to balance things in my personal life. It was a hard pill to swallow\, but I had to get real. I acknowledged it and consciously made a change. I started eating healthier\, going to the gym\, and seeing a therapist. Everything helped a lot. I funneled the inner pain and turmoil into the music.” \nHe did so during sessions in New York and Denver. Beyond shaping lively and lush soundscapes of his own\, he orchestrated performances by a bevy of musicians such as Jeff Franca\, Hunter Roberts\, Bora Lee\, Mike Tallman\, and Eddie Roberts. Akin to a conductor\, he actively produced the players and arranged the tracks. \nNow\, he introduces this chapter via the uplifting single “Feel Yourself” [with Marc Rebillet]. A seventies-style synth line wraps around the bass\, while a head-nodding beat sets the tempo punctuated by glimmering guitar and a loose lead. Rebillet’s buttery smooth vocals engage and empower as he urges\, “Nobody feeling you\, gotta feel yourself.” \n“Marc and I have known each other since 2019\,” he says. “I admire him as a musician and as a person. We reconnected in 2022\, and it was dope he made time for me. ‘Feel Yourself’ is straight-to-the-point. He came up with the hook on the spot\, and it’s almost like a mantra. Your inner consciousness is telling you\, ‘People around you can love you for who you are. At the end of the day though\, nobody can help you and love you for you; you have to do that. You need to do the inner work.” \nElsewhere\, “Soulsearcher” uncorks a blast of sonic sunshine enlivened by ecstatic strings\, ebullient keys\, engaging horns\, and an entrancing vocal. “I finally knew how to finish the song after the life experience I’d gone through\,” he states. “It’s about searching deep\, inquiring within\, and telling yourself the healthiest way to go on your path.” \n“Nebula Gazer” hinges on a clean funk riff and foot-stomping bass. Built around a core synth line\,  successive solos swirl across this galaxy in an intergalactic call-and-response. \n“There are way more solos on the album\,” he smiles. “It made everything more colorful.” \nThe unabashed soul of “Life and Death of Hard Times” explores an overarching theme with a strutting groove and slick thump of its own. “We all go through rough periods\,” he observes. “That’s just human experience. We suffer\, but it doesn’t last forever. ‘Life and Death of Hard Times’ describes the beginning and end cycle of a hard time. You come out stronger on the other side.” \nThen\, there’s the closer “Better Will Come.” He samples Gil Scott-Heron whose words\, “If you take your time\, you might change your mind\,” prove as prescient and appropriate as ever layered atop a buoyant soundscape. \n“Gil’s words are looped through the song\, and it ties the whole album together\,” he notes. “If you really do take your time\, you can change your mind and everything\, in general. It’s a full circle moment.” \nIn order to bring the music to life on stage\, Flamingosis will hit the road with a band for the very first time. At the end of 2023\, he performed a pair of gigs in Denver at Cervantes joined by Bodega Groove Collective. The drums\, horns\, guitar\, and bass added a full-bodied bombast to the set unlike anything he’d delivered prior. \n“The shows in Denver were pretty much the climax of my music career thus far\,” he goes on. “I’d never played with a live band\, so it was a major change. I’ve learned you need to face new challenges head-on. It’s what we did\, and it went great. It’s going to be really cool to do the same thing on the road.” \nIn the end\, Flamingosis delivers a message meant to be shared aloud on the album. \n“It’s a reminder that no matter what you’re going through\, you can be better for yourself\,” he leaves off. “Hard times don’t last. All of those little things add up to change you for the better. Am I where I want to be? Probably not yet\, but I’m a lot better than I was when I started the whole process.”

SUMMARY:Buckethead
DESCRIPTION:presented by AMP Concerts \nBuckethead is one of the most bizarre and enigmatic figures in American underground and experimental music since Parliament–Funkadelic birthed their bevy of cosmic characters in the mid-’70s. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist best known for his virtuosic command of the electric guitar\, Buckethead is one of the instrument’s most recognizable contemporary innovators\, his rapid-fire riffing\, near-robotic fretwork\, and idiosyncratic lead lines combining elements of Yngwie Malmsteen\, Adrian Belew\, Slayer‘s Kerry King\, P-Funk‘s Eddie Hazel\, and avant-improv artist John Zorn‘s Scud-attack sax abuse. His first group\, the San Francisco-based metal-funk combine the Deli Creeps\, were a regional success\, but disbanded before they could release anything. Buckethead’s solo career has been more productive\, thanks mostly to the motivation of Zorn and Bill Laswell\, the latter of whom Buckethead has also recorded and toured with in Praxis. Laswell has also produced a number of Buckethead’s solo albums (including Dreamatorium and Day of the Robot) and included him on more than a dozen one-off recordings with the likes of Hakim Bey\, Bootsy Collins\, Anton Fier\, Jonas Hellborg\, and Bernie Worrell. In addition to releases including 1998’s Colma\, Buckethead has also contributed soundtrack material to such films as Last Action Hero and Street Fighter. Buckethead returned in 1999 with Monsters and Robots\, after which he joined the short-lived re-formation of Guns N’ Roses. A steady stream of releases followed into the 21st century ranging from the contemplative Electric Tears to a more electronica/rock hybrid\, and collaborations with San Francisco’s underground hip-hop scene. In the following decade\, he averaged a few releases a year\, teaming up with dozens of artists\, including Les Claypool\, Iggy Pop\, and Mike Patton. ~ Sean Cooper\, Rovi

SUMMARY:Searows
DESCRIPTION:Searows has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold goes to supporting organizations working to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians and to uplift and protect LGBTQ youth through advocacy\, safety\, and essential support services. \nSearows\, the project of Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter and guitarist Alec Duckart\, releases his new album\, Death in the Business of Whaling\, on January 23\, 2026 via Last Recordings On Earth. Though Death in the Business of Whaling arrives as Searows’ second album\, it’s the product of many firsts\, including his first time recording outside the creative cocoon of his bedroom. His 2022 debut Guard Dog was written\, recorded and self-produced in Duckart’s Portland home and independently released with little expectation as to how it would be received. The music soon found a passionate audience that were already sharing snippets of Duckart’s music via communities on TikTok\, as well as co-signs from artists like Ethel Cain\, Gracie Abrams and Robin Pecknold. \nWhen the time came to commit the collection of ideas for his new record to tape\, he set up shop in a converted horse barn outside of Seattle\, keen to harness a greater sense of scale and space in the creation of the music\, working this time with co-producer Trevor Spencer (Father John Misty\, Beach House\, Mary Lattimore)\nto expand his creative vision. \n“I had really wonderfully connective and intimate experiences sharing my first couple of projects with live audiences. Those projects were very personal and vulnerable and revealing my life and specific experiences to an audience began to feel a bit dissonant and exposing\,” he explains. “One of my favourite things about music is its ability to connect people. It has done so for me time and time again and it has been so special to see my own writing do that for people too. I just began to learn that for myself\, there were specifics that I wanted to keep for myself.” \nAs a result\, Duckart became interested in writing songs that read more like folklore. The songs became a vessel for digging deep and exploring his life and point of view\, but in a way that spoke outwardly more symbolically than literally. “Something your subconscious understands before your conscious mind does. Visceral rather than literal. And that relationship to our deeper selves\, our subconscious\, our souls\, is a major theme of the album for me. Most of these songs are about the different ways we all bump up against the human condition. Our spirit\, the shadow self\, our egos\, trauma\, love and fate. How we cope with our experiences and how we connect and take care of one another in an exceedingly dark and violent world. This record is still deeply personal to me. But it is an attempt to reveal my cards in a more coded\, symbolic manner.”

SUMMARY:Turnover w/ Narrow Head & She's Green
DESCRIPTION:TURNOVER\nThe title track of the band’s new album\, Myself in the Way\, speaks to this mindset. “I can’t put myself in the way of love again\,” sings Getz\, “I promise I’m going to go all the way with you\,” is specifically about Getz getting engaged to his longtime partner\, but applies to the general outlook he had toward life in lockdown. “I was living in Sebastopol\, California at the time and felt like I truly lived there for the first time since I wasn’t leaving for tour. I was able to go meditate at the Zen Buddhist dojo down the road\, run and bike around the hills in Sonoma county\, learn about plants and gardening\, take some Spanish and arboriculture classes\, and get involved with the volunteer fire department. Just do a bunch of new things to challenge and inspire me in a natural way.” \nTurnover’s other members also used the time to deepen interests they hadn’t been able to fully explore before covid. Bass player Dan Dempsey was in New York City and responded to lockdown by spending more time practicing his visual art in drawing and painting. He painted the album’s cover during this period and developed a style that has become a central theme for the band in its current iteration. Drummer Casey Getz found work at a Virginia Beach state park as touring continued to be postponed. He was in search of and inspired by having a work-life balance different than he’d experienced since he was younger. Through this\, he was able to nurture current relationships more and find new ones\, something touring made much more difficult. This led to Casey playing drums with a group of longtime friends in Virginia Beach and further developing his drumming style – adding a new prowess for fluidity and improvisation through lengthy jam sessions with the group. Guitarist Nick Rayfield was focused on sharpening his guitar and piano playing and was able to devote energy to skateboarding and his retail business more than he had been able to for the last few years. This was also the band’s first album with Rayfield making songwriting contributions after touring with them for years as a live member\, adding a new creative element to the songs. \nOver 18 months Turnover weaved these individual experiences into a collective work\, recording the LP over two sessions with longtime collaborator Will Yip at Studio 4. Austin is credited\, for the first time\, as co-producer. \n“I had specific ideas for sound design on this album. I knew a lot of sounds I wanted to hear and use. We wanted everything to be able to be heard and have its own place. I was inspired by the way Magical Mystery Tour and Dark Side of the Moon sounded. We decided to go a lot wider with it and utilize panning and stereo more than we had in the past\, while also wanting it to sound tighter and smaller than some of our earlier records. We were inspired by drum and bass sounds from Chic and Quincy Jones records from the 70s\, so we put the drums in the control room to get them to sound smaller. We used an active pickup bass and a jazz bass to get that percussive sound from the bass so the low end wasn’t as rumbling and subby. We let the synths share some of that low end that the drums and bass gave up. Quincy’s approach to arrangements were a huge inspiration in this record as well. The horn and string lines I wanted to sound like classic era disco\, mixed with modern synth and vocal sounds. I had been experimenting with my own vocal styles a lot and utilized autotune and vocoder on this album almost as instruments on certain songs as a stylistic choice.” \nThe band has always been DIY\, but post pandemic they have taken that to a different level. They appreciate more than ever how lucky they are to get to be together and have fun creating things with their friends. They have found that they are usually best suited for executing their own vision\, not only musically\, but with all its accompaniments as well. For this album they made all their own videos in collaboration with friends and using Dempsey’s drawings and paintings. \nChange is authentic and true to Turnover as a band and as individuals. Chart a course through their discography and find a band continually reinventing themselves with a unique artistic ambition. Myself In The Way arrives finding Turnover doing the same within their own persons\, pushing the band into new and exciting parallel depths of expression. \nNARROW HEAD\nTruly great pop songs do not require a cheery outlook in order to work\, nor do they pander to expectations of syrupy sweet easy-listening. Rather\, the best pop music is a matter of refinement and pure intention\, of dialing groove to melody so that the two might puncture the malaise of everyday living in unison\, revealing some brief\, sober truth about our shared human condition. On their third LP\, Moments of Clarity (Run for Cover)\, Narrow Head have achieved precisely this feat. Traversing the depths of massive\, churning riffs\, often distorted to the point of violence\, bouncing\, lock-grooved rhythms\, and crystalline\, gorgeously constructed hooks\, the Houston-based outfit puts on a masterclass in the art of writing songs that match the pain\, pleasure\, and confusion of modern living. \nSHE’S GREEN\nMinneapolis band she’s green describe themselves as “moss music”. Inspired as much by J.R.R. Tolkien and Hayao Miyazaki as by Slowdive and the Cocteau Twins\, the band — consisting of Liam Armstrong\, Zofia Smith\, Raines Lucas\, Kevin Seebeck and Teddy Nordvold — aim to create their own musical and visual world defined by dreamy fantasy\, emotional openness and sonic depth. In 2023 she’s green released their debut EP\, Wisteria\, which included the viral hit “Mandy\,” and in 2025 they released the follow-up EP\, Chrysalis. It builds on the shimmering shoegaze and dream-pop of Wisteria\, with ever more irresistible melodies and deeper songcraft. “We wanted to expand the scope of what we did with the first EP\, and see how far we could push either side of the music — whether it’s harsh and jarring or it’s inviting and warm\,” Armstrong says. And as they win over fans everywhere they go with their authentic\, loving approach to their sound\, it’s clear that this huge year for she’s green is only the beginning.
