The same year the record was released\, Gauthier was named the New Artist of the Year by the Americana Music Association. Mercy Now was also recognized among the Top 10 Albums of 2005 by outlets like the LA Times\, New York Times\, No Depression and Billboard. The record’s title track and enduring favorite “I Drink” has been covered by artists including Boy George\, Blake Shelton\, Tim McGraw and Lynn Moffatt over the years. \nGauthier released her most recent new album\, Dark Enough to See the Stars\, in 2022. In 2024\, she also reissued her 1999 debut\, Drag Queens In Limousines\, in honor of its 25th anniversary. She published a nonfiction book on the art of songwriting\, Saved By A Song\, in 2021.

Wanting more than your standard songwriter-in-the-round arrangement\, the three learned each other’s songs to create a more integrated\, band approach. Those first few shows together were so much fun and so well-received that they decided to continue. \nWonder Women of Country have discovered that\, together\, their own individual superpowers come alive. (One of their superpowers is being able to find hidden treasures in any thrift or vintage store.) With Leigh playing lead guitar and mandolin\, Carper on upright bass\, and Willis playing rhythm guitar\, they support each other’s distinctive original material with beautiful three-part harmonies.

This has been proven through three consecutive sellout appearances at Glasgow’s world-famous Celtic Connections festival. \nTheir 2019 release\, Drawn From Deep Water\, was met with widespread praise (“a refreshing blast” – RnR) for its exemplary interplay\, nakedly emotional playing\, and well-chosen material. The 11-track album brought Gnoss to entranced audiences across France\, Italy\, and Denmark\, as well as throughout the UK. \nTheir follow-up album\, The Light of the Moon\, continued to demonstrate Gnoss’ dedication to their craft\, placing them firmly at the forefront of contemporary Scottish folk. The album earned a nomination for Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards and was described by Songlines as “an invigorating new direction for the Gnoss boys.” It took their online fanbase by storm\, gaining over one million streams in 2022. \nWith the release of their third album\, Stretching Skyward (2023)\, Gnoss reignited their collaboration with producer and engineer Scott Wood (Skerryvore)\, further exploring their acoustic roots while incorporating new electronic elements.
