SUMMARY:Normal
DESCRIPTION:Dir. Ben Wheatley – 2025 – 93m – Valid for Punch Cards \n\n\nThe latest collaboration between Bob Odenkirk\, JOHN WICK creator Derek Kolstad and NOBODY producer Marc Provissiero\, director Ben Wheatley’s (FREE FIRE\, HIGH RISE) kinetic neo-Western stars Odenkirk as an unassuming substitute sheriff with a troubled past who\, after moving to a small\, sleepy town\, responds to a bank robbery and unknowingly uncovers something far more explosive. \nFor Sheriff Ulysses (Odenkirk)\, his provisional posting to the quaint Midwestern American town of Normal was meant to be a welcome respite from both his marital woes and recent moral injuries in the line of duty. But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality’s tranquil pace\, a dark secret is inadvertently exposed\, and Ulysses soon discovers that the town is anything but its namesake. \n“Heavy doses of early Coen Brothers comic thrillers saturate this fabulously fun and gratuitously grisly tale.” -Bill Newcott\, The Saturday Evening Post \n“A real treat with what is one of the most exhilarating action films of this year.” – Maxance Vincent\, The Cinema Spot

SUMMARY:Ratcatcher (1999)
DESCRIPTION:Dir. Lynne Ramsay – 1999 – 93m – Scotland – Valid for Punch Cards \n\n\nAS PART OF THIS MONTH’S ARTHOUSE CLASSICS TRIBUTE TO THE REMARKABLE  FILMMAKER LYNNE RAMSAY! \nIn her breathtaking and assured debut feature\, Lynne Ramsay creates a haunting evocation of a troubled Glasgow childhood. Set during Scotland’s national garbage strike of the mid-1970s\, Ratcatcher explores the experiences of a poor adolescent boy as he struggles to reconcile his dreams and his guilt with the abjection that surrounds him. Utilizing beautiful\, elusive imagery\, candid performances\, and unexpected humor\, Ramsay deftly contrasts urban decay with a rich interior landscape of hope and perseverance\, resulting in a work at once raw and deeply poetic. \n“What is so striking and eerie about Ratcatcher is Ramsay’s brilliant way of rendering a trance-like\, epiphanic child’s-eye-view of a hundred little things that present themselves to James’s senses.” – Peter Bradshaw\, Guardian \n“Ramsay’s imaginative shot-making gifts make for a sublime result\, creating a different sort of magical realism than we’re used to seeing.”- Kenneth Turan\, Los Angeles Times

SUMMARY:Tiki Tiki (1971)
DESCRIPTION:Dir. Gerald Potterton – 1971 – 71m \n\n\nAN UNCLASSIFIABLE ANIMATED ODYSSEY FROM THE DIRECTOR OF HEAVY METAL! \nOne of Canada’s most highly regarded animation filmmakers\, Gerald Potterton earned multiple Oscar nominations for his work at the National Film Board of Canada\,  contributed to Yellow Submarine\, collaborated with Harold Pinter\, made a celebrated live action short with Buster Keaton\, and directed the 1981 cult classic Heavy Metal. But a decade earlier\, he made one other animated feature – Tiki Tiki – that was never widely distributed and remains a singular and much sought-after enigma of its era. \nDoctor Aybolit blasts into space accompanied by his faithful companions\, the talking monkey Chichi and the talking dog Avva\, hot on the trail of his arch-nemesis Barmalei\, a pirate who has kidnapped a group of simian children. Meanwhile\, in animated framing sequences\, a fast-talking film producer pitches this tale to a studio executive with a personal stake in the story. \nCombining an animated narrative involving a filmmaking monkey – loosely inspired by Dennis Hopper’s Easy Rider persona – with segments from little-seen ‘60s live action fantasy film Aybolit-66\, this is an unclassifiable cinematic joyride. Over five decades after the film’s (very limited) release\, CIP is proud to bring this inspired feat of cinematic imagination back to audiences.

For those who get on its wavelength\,  there’s nothing else quite like it.” – Kristy Strouse Film Inquiry \n“It is a story of a man rescuing a  mermaid\, yes\, but it is also one of self-discovery and friendship.  Beautifully weird and full of emotional depth\, this one makes a splash  in a big way.” – Phil Walsh Geek Vibes Nation
