Based around three of Hoffmann’s tales (Klein Zaches, The Golden Pot and The Sandman), with the main character being Hoffmann himself, a young lawyer, musician and writer who lives in two dimensions at once: the imaginary world of his own works and in the ordinary reality of a small town. In the images of his heroes Hoffman will have to go through the most amazing and full of dangers of adventure, which may not just be fantasies from his own fairy tales.
17 years in the making, this absolutely stunning film used puppet animation exclusively and avoided using computer animation for special effects!
